1100SZ Rear Shocks

Post by VaVaVoom » Mon Aug 15, 2011 7:55 pm

Hello again.

Can anyone recommend a decent pair of aftermarket shocks please? I don't want cheapos but equally can't afford the exciting stuff.

I'm looking in the new Hagon price bracket but a couple of mates reckon Hagon's aren't that good. Any thoughts?

I've decided to completely rebuild the bike properly and once I'm ready to start I'll post a Project topic.

Cheers everyone.

Evan

Nothing wrong with Hagon's mate, good quality, decent price and work well. Not gonna set the world on fire like Ohlins etc but are a fraction of the price. You can also get Ikon's for a bit more money (old Koni's) which are arguably better than Hagon.

Thanks. I appreciate that. I'll have a look at the Ikon site. I really just want something that will do a solid job and not look far off the originals, as I'm trying to tastefully modernise my bike as subtly as possible so it looks like a standard bike from across a car park!

Had some Konis on my Kat back in the day. Made a big difference to stock shocks!

Yeah. The Ikons look really good. The dial adjuster is certainly in keeping too. I'm not sure about black springs though. As they are rebuildable I will likely go for these as I'm sure they'll last.

Thanks for the advice.

hagons are good too, they will allow you to specify slightly longer or shorter than stock and also will fit stiffer or softer springs as well. i have a set built for sidecar use that were made with 75% stiffer springs, a propper firm ride they give i tell ya!!

Thanks John. Would you order the Hagons directly from Hagon then? Stiffer springs would be good as I'm a big lad!

yes, definately, order direct from them and they will make them to your spec. back when i was running sidecars, we all used to build outfits up and the first thing we did was order the heavy duty shocks from hagon.

Cheers. I've been looking on the Hagon website and when I type in my bike model it says only the road shocks are available. I fancy the 2810 shocks though. Probably better to give them a bell eh?

By the way John - what exactly is the Nissan silver car paint you've mentioned as a close match to 13L?

Thanks
