Maxxis tyres
Has anyone had any experience with Maxxis tyres? Just got hold of a pair of Bandit wheels to put on the pop up but need some tyres and the maxxis are very competatively priced.

Re: Maxxis tyres
I'd give them a wide berth mate, the sport touring ones are rock hard and the sport ones grip ok ish but wear out very very quickly.
What size bandit wheels have you got ?, if they're off an early one then i'd say Bridgestone BT45's. if later then Pirelli Diablo will do nicley, they're an older tyre now but still very good and go a bit cheaper. Give BCT motorcycles a call, very good prices..

Re: Maxxis tyres
Wheels are from a 400 I think, 3" front 4" rear. Have done a search on net and reviews seem quite good but it's always a worry heading into the unknown ;

BT45's or as an alternative Avon roadriders, sizes should be 110 front and prob 140 rear.....
Maxxis, nah...they're made by Chen Shing

Re: Maxxis tyres
Got a pair of Maxxis "Hookworms" on my year 2000 Specialized HardRock. They are a large profile downhill tyre with a minimal tread pattern. Great in the the dry, but a bit "entertaining" on damp tarmac.
But then thats a Mountain bike, so probably not of much interest to you
However, only last night I was talking to a Triumph owner/racer who was quite keen on the Continental GO that have replaced the TKV (?) range.

Re: Maxxis tyres
conti Go is a daft name but the tyres were /are fine, and at a reasonable price , but sadly no use to me as they last only half as long as the ones they replaced. The Go's only do about 6-7,000 miles, before needing to be replaced. 2Months to me but most out they 2 years maybe, at that a bargain.

Re: Maxxis tyres
Update on the tyres, decided to go with Avon Roadriders on the bandit rims 110/70/17 & 150/70/17 fitted price including balancing & new valves £170 at my local bike shop. I thought that was a pretty fair price.
