Re: Insurance...
If you call my 2009 Buell modern, then I have.
I have that and five classics for about £350.

Re: Insurance...
Mine is about the same price as SmallKats - 11 bikes with VStrom being the biggest now. I did raise with them at renewal in April as taking 1 of the 1100's off didn't make much difference.
As it turns out mine (and probably SmallKats) is a Modern multi-bike policy, not a classic policy. Mine is like this as I had the 2004 VStrom on there from years ago so needed to be that way even though now it would be classed as a classic under VJMC rules That does mean we get no claims discounts which I don't think you do on classic policies. I had thought to swap to a classic but I might be adding a more modern bike on there again, which saves having to have 2 policies.

Re: Insurance...
I found it cheaper to insure the kat and my other bike (BMW f800gs) separately as combining them means you can't have a classic bike policy, just a multibike policy.
£60 for the BMW, and £124 for the kat, both have free breakdown and unlimited mileage. The only thing with the classic bike policy is you don't get an NCD as UB said, and you can't pay them on installments either for some reason?
Not really much bother having two policies running, although the knobs at Peter James have cocked up some paperwork, so I did receive a mildly threatening letter from the insurance database telling me I wasn't insured and they would soon be sending me a fixed penalty!!

Re: Insurance...
My policy did jump up when I added the bikes with agreed value ( 8k and 6k on the 1100's) but has failed to come down once they have been removed. Last year I sold the first 1100 and got a small amount back, 5 months into the policy. This year I sold the next 1100 2 months into the policy and they said there wasn't any rebate and implied each bike was roughly £25, though 11 bikes only makes that £275 not £330ish.
I too think they are taking the piss a bit. Having a lot of bikes on the policy it's just a ball ache changing - last time I tried it took over 45mins on the phone and the quote (R&H was more). I might try 2 policies next year and see. I do have class 1 business on mine with Peter James so I can use them going to customer sites if I wish ( they love me turning up on an old 2 stoke and smelling the same )
Are yours with Peter James, Blix?

Insurance companies taking the piss? no shit Sherlock!
By the way, most of these "Insurance companies" are just brokers for a multi national empire, I'm insured with Carole Nash but all my policies are with Aviva insurance

Re: Insurance...
Agreed value of £8k on my thousand...might be a bit optimistic, but they seemed happy enough once they had the pictures....
All sorted on the insurance database now, it wasn't the guys at PJ, it was apparently the underwriter made a typo on the registration.

Re: Insurance...
I've just renewed with Peter James for £336. One X7 valued at £8000, TS at £5500, Buell at £7000, Kat £2500, Rubbish X7 at £3000. Declared modifications on Buell and Smallkat.
I did ring up to see if they would shave a bit off, but they said no. I can't really be bothered with all the hassle of moving, the forms, the photo's, clearing up errors etc.

Re: Insurance...
I had that with Peter James (though it was £10 a couple of years ago), I said I'd just go with a new quote and they said they'd still add it on to that if I took out the policy! A new way to extract money out of you!
