My GPZ600R needed a new tank after one trip to the IOM, centre stands were being fitted less to bikes at that point and you could hear bikes clanking from side to side during the crossing.
I remember walking into the vehicle deck feeling a bit queasy from the crossing and hungover to be greeted by the stench of vehicle and petrol fumes as the deck was awash, the guys were just handing out claim forms to everyone, riding down the ramp was fun as well
Still had fun though .....
Blix, That Ninja 600 is one I have been looking at over here, I have always loved the look of that first gen Ninja (GPz)

Parked up at Goodwood Circuit, probably in 1982, when my brother owned it. I think it was a new model launch event for one of the big four.
The bike behind is another 1000SZ, owned at that time by a work colleague of my brother. That bike was registered with an X plate because the owner could not wait until the Y reg came out!

Nothing screams poor workmanship quite like wrinkles in your duct tape.

Lovely to see someone is getting some winter sun and riding. I'd like to pretend I'm not jealous, but I am!
I see the Osbourne Bull there - I only knew about them after the Royal Enfield trip I did in March with my brothers and the Guide told us about them -

They’re usually quite prominent, like on a hill. But this one is in a flat area amongst the salt ‘fields’.
I never knew they had a name

No way Fossie, I had a XZ550!!! your are right it suuuuuuked. It was the first bike I bought, I had an 83, here they are called a 550 Vision. It over heated, had electrical problems and just sucked, my next bike was a Ninja 900 (GPZ) and I was in love.
Fun fact, I had it in high school and I had my best bloke on the back (he was my best man two years ago) and I was getting pulled over and decided to run from the constibol. Well I got cought and had to finish the rest of my Junior year of high school in Juvenile Hall (kids jail).

You tried to out run the fuzz on an XZ550 (spit) .!..the vision over here was a scooter and more reliable ...I had 2 at the same time one being repaired the other working on getting to that stage....
I only bought the first because I was reversed into on a Motorway ( freeway to you) and my CX was badly damaged so needed a bike to work the next day ...the 2nd was a straight swap for the NOT SO STRAIGHT on the CX . Both constantly overheated , though when the YICS system was altered by shoving a 10mm bolt up the tube it ticked over again...aaaargh the memories ...actually finally sold both for a profit , but learned a lot along the way ....like never buy another !
