Side Stand Warning Light
I'm adding a side stand switch/warning light to my pop-up. I have two switches, both of which came from 750ES bikes that were being broken (I think!) but the switches are quite different and only the one on the right seems to work correctly. The one on the left fits the bracket perfectly, but is a 'normally open' circuit - so the warning light comes on when the stand goes up. Does anyone know what this switch is for? Or what it comes off? Thanks!

Re: Side Stand Warning Light
Yep it's an engine kill switch for any Suzuki after 1991. So as you suggest if works opposite way to the original.
So if the stand is down the ignition feed is cut.
You need one from an ES series upto 1988.

Re: Side Stand Warning Light
Wish I’d have read this two weeks ago I’d have saved myself a tenner and a couple hours fettling. Note to self!!! Use other folks wisdom not my money.
On that note I bought a GSXR switch and when I checked for continuity, with the plunger pressed in, absolutely nothing. Thought I had a duff switch so I checked the switch on my Slingshot 1988 and that was the same. It baffled me and still does but it works correctly. Guess I now have to buy another switch from an 83 ES. If you can explain in simpleton terms how the switch works I’d appreciate that. Thanks Berti.

Re: Side Stand Warning Light
I’ve noticed a gsx550es 1986 switch looks similar but has a different part number I’ve emailed a couple of folk for dimensions and to see if the circuit is closed when the plunger is pressed in. Can I just check that’s right: when the plunger is pressed in the loop should be complete (closed)?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Side Stand Warning Light
Part numbers are your friend , different part number won't fit. Unless you want to adapt it.
For my twopeneth don't buy a second hand one , it won't last,in use the weather gets past the rubber boot and corrodes the solder.
For info Suzuki part numbers are not relevant to specific bike.
The first part of the number denotes what it is ...say filter, switch , bolt, nut, The second part after the dash denotes the first machine it was fitted to....which could be a model years before ,
The new Suzuki Jimny 2019 model has an ECU from a GSXR 1000.. They don't make bits they don't need to.
