GSX400 Katana for Restoration

Post by Uncle Bob » Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:20 am

At present a good price, I'm sort of tempted (as a basis for a full restro project on at some point), but it will probably go for more than I think!

I didn't think, given current prices that was too bad. I think we can safely say it's going to be the carbs and if not, then an engine transplant for something bigger like others are trying would be interesting. Looking at bidding I think last bidder probably had a higher amount in but the £1070 did it. I was out and had forgot about it as usual!

How do you know "Pete" bought it? Is that a (or former) club member?

I did see the seller had the Litetek repair kits me and Pookie always mention, so I do wonder if they had been on here (or the FB page) and asked in the past and we had given advice.

Pete was a former club member and has posted a picture of his "New " addition on a FB Kat page....along with his other Kats ...he won't be fitting a bigger engine .....he has had a 400 before which I had for a short time as I was going to swap the gunmetal body work over on to my 13L one .....but it moved on before I even used it properly..... So he obviously dosen't take advise from the classics ..." One bitten , twice shy!"

Pete had the MK 1 impulse 1987-9which was nothing at all like the impulse 1992-4 that the 400 katana shares engine , carbs and exhaust with.

And different Pete! :D
