GS650 Katana, stored 18 years.

Post by Uncle Bob » Mon Mar 05, 2018 5:55 pm

Looks quite honest, original exhausts. Looks like Jap import, pre oil cooler (are all early ones no oil cooler) or just certain markets? My first 650 Kat in about 1989 had no oil cooler but sure it was a UK bike.

The last one with the wrong clocks etc on went for £730 so interested to see what this does.

All UK 650 ....in fact ALL650 except jap market had an oil cooler, this is jap import even still has 650G on side panel and jap clocks.

Looks nice and honest , carbs will be pretty gummed up now , but the main issue is the rear sets? ....how are they fitted are the original pegs fitted , how or the original chopped off?

Another DVLA wonder! Registered the year before it was built! Due to the licensing of the day and import paperwork.

I did wonder if the 650 I had, had had the engine swapped for a GS650GT engine. Whatever it burnt too much oil!
Wonder why they decided the Jap model didn't need it (or the rest of the world did?).

Didn't notice the rearsets - well spotted.
