Hi. Just recently bought my first Katana 750s. Back in the 80s a couple of my mates had the 1000&1100s and I've always had a soft spot for them. I was down at the MOT station when I got talking to a guy who was selling his and that same afternoon I became the proud owner of the S1 The bike could do with a little TLC but it's all there. can't decide whether to do a full restoration or just tidy it up and use it for the classic bruiser that is cheers Pat. Hi and welcome to the forum,

If it runs and will get an MOT, there is the school of thought that says Kat's are for riding, not hiding! So run it over the summer and see what bits fall off

I had to rebuild mine as it was in a real state but complete, and it took a lot longer than I anticipated.

One thing though, looking at your photo, try and get a decent scan or photo of the ANDF sticker on the front forks as the Suzuki replacement is the later "long" type as opposed to the "square" type yours is.

That way it would be possible for use to get some replicas done.

Hi and welcome in. I agree with all above. Summer is for riding. Winter is for fiddling with bikes. get some miles in and then you will know what needs doing over the winter

Hi blix you are correct 145 mph on a 80s 750 would indeed be a bit quick. But this was on my friends 1000or1100 (can't remember which bike) but they were always arguing who had the best model. It was a double whammy that day as I did my first parachute jump on the same day. Photos to follow

Hi Kryten, you may be a bit pissed with me as one of the first jobs I did on the bike was to decrease and power wash, you know what's coming I'm afraid it got destroyed, sorry mate would have been good to contribute something to the site! Bugger

Well welcome along .....as has been said restoration, NO NO NO NO NOT never never never.........you will start and weeks will become years , a Kat is for life not just sunny Sunday's!

Jet wash also no, it gets into bearing ....removes stickers! No a layer of urban camouflage preserves what lays beneath.

Smand and I were at the NABD rally this weekend , parked up by our tent was our S2 , so many people reminisced but most remarked they had one or a mate had one under restoration .

but nice see one used .

Not trying to steal your post , but as I mention else where you havevyourself an S2 . Which was once in this colour probably .
