Head removal

Post by payton6uk » Wed Nov 05, 2014 1:56 pm

both my rocker cover and Head Gasket are weeping.

I've got the parts, Does anyone know is it possible to change the Head Gasket without removing the engine? I'm guessing the rocker cover should e easy enough.

Can anyone offer any advice before I delve headfirst into it?

Just did the rocker cover on mine. It's a wee bit fiddly but do-able.
No idea about the head gasket.

Before you do anything drastic. Replace the camchain tensioner orings. They give the ilusion of a leaky head. Also replace the two centre head fixing bolts orings.

I'm liking the look of that belly pan on your pop-up. Is it a universal type of a GSX one? Once I get my Predator re-hung and sitting tighter to the motor I quite fancy a belly pan on mine.

To be honest, I don't know...it was on the bike when I bought it. If you want I can take some photos and upload them if it will help?

Photos would be helpful - I know some folk don't like belly pans on pop-ups but I think it pulls the look together, plus it hides more of the golden frame.....;}
