i know its not a katana but here's a pic of my Kawasaki kr1, I've owned it from new (24 years) with 12000 miles on the clock its totally unrestored, i even have all the bits (white mirrors, clear screen and rubber brake lines) that it came with when new, apart from a couple of sets of tyres and replacement brake pads its as it left the showroom in 1989, its even on the original chain :o its still brilliant fun to ride, i feel like a reverse dorian grey when i ride it, i'm older and fatter but the bike looks like new, and i nearly sold it to buy a brand new 250 katana in 1993!Image

I'm jealous - that looks very nice (Katana). Where did you get it? I haven't seen one in decent nick for sale for ages. There have been a couple at D&K but looked (and from other posted here) were a little rough.

KR1 is very nice as well...

buy soe fuel stabilizer from ebay. if you need to leave it standing for more than a fortnight, stick the stabilizer in the fuel and run the engine till it gets into the carbs. these baby kats dont like to be stood for too long without being run and the jets and drillings in the carbs clog very easily. fuel stabilizer will help prevent that and its not expensive. its sold for gardening equipment like mowers and chainsaws that are left unused for long periods of time.

Going on from what JohnR said - I used Briggs and Stratton fuel stabilizer over winter from local gardening equipment place.

cheers, got the kat from a small bike dealer in sussex, after looking for one on e-bad after getting in from the pub (I've promised not to do that again) it looked a little rough when I first saw it
(bit like the tv show wheeler dealers where you can see the potential) but the fairing, tank and seat were all intact, if any of these were damaged or broken I might have walked away, had great fun riding it home from the dealer (40 miles) as I hadn't ridden a four stroke bike since 1983! spent nearly two whole weeks cleaning it and surprised myself with the result :)

Hi, I live near Hampton court (sounds like a 'carry on' joke) in surrey but I've got friends in Worthing, bike was bought from Bol d'or motorcycles in Pulborough, the owner Dave says that he sells a few katanas a year and after getting the v5 log book through the post the last owner lived in Littlehampton (another 'carry on' joke name) and had owned it for three years.
