GSXR rear wheel in stock katana swingarm
GSXR rear wheel in stock katana swingarm
Is there anybody here who has a GSXR rear wheel in a stock katana 1100 swingarm?
I would like one in my kat, and I was wondering if it has been done by any of you guys before and if they might be willing to give me some advice on it
I'm also going to change to front end to GSXR USD forks.. and some other small upgrades

interesting chainrun indeed Pedda, new modification?
I was wondering how it acts on the road with a 180 tire in an old swinger?

I fitted some shocker extensions, length 40mm to regain ground clearance. Front was a B12 fork, which is also shorter than stock. All in all handling well, not that logboat feeling the stock Kat gives you.
The stock swinger is doing well enough.

Re: GSXR rear wheel in stock katana swingarm
I found it easier to change over the whole assembly arm and wheel rather than trying to mate up the wheel, although in a pop up and not 1100
Re: GSXR rear wheel in stock katana swingarm
keep the twin shock, getting a couple of cleats welded to the std gsxr arm is not too hard and you know that the caliper alignment and wheel spacers etc all work perfectly as stock items, i am not an expert and so this is just the ramblings from my head someone who has done it may be able to tell you that what i suggest is impossible lol

You can fit a bandit 600 wheel quite easily. Use a gs500 twin cush drive. You canput a 160 on that. I fitted one to the wifes 1100sz kat a few years back. I like the idea of the correct length arm.

longer shocks is a good idea Pedda, maybe I should treat myself to a set of ohlins, I was a sweet boy this year, no speeding ticketsPedda wrote:I fitted some shocker extensions, length 40mm to regain ground clearance. But what is the best option to get the brake caliper on??
because the caliper is upside down and it needs a torque arm..
On my popup I did switch the whole swingarm with a Gixxer 750 arm, took some cutting and welding in new pieces, handles well tooaskinmechanic wrote:I found it easier to change over the whole assembly arm and wheel rather than trying to mate up the wheel, although in a pop up and not 1100
But on my 1100 I want to keep the twinshock and the swingarm.
also an option to keep in mind, but what about the brake caliper? how did you fix that?FBJ wrote:You can fit a bandit 600 wheel quite easily. Use a gs500 twin cush drive. You canput a 160 on that. I fitted one to the wifes 1100sz kat a few years back. I like the idea of the correct length arm.
