Re: 750 popup... Regrec
electrex reg recs are bomb proof normally. rewire your alternator so that all 3 phases to to the reg rec, directly.

Hiya,
Thanks for the info.
So how is bypassing the switch actually done... Do i pull 2 cables out of the switch and link them together bypassing that easy way (if so which cables) or do I run a fresh cable to/from somewhere
Any help would be ace
Cheers

Re: 750 popup... Regrec
wire the 3 phases of the alternator to the 3 phase inputs of the reg rec directly. the feed to the headlight should be fed to a live feed thats switched by the ignition switch.

Re: 750 popup... Regrec
right chaps.
me again.. i was very lazy last time and didn't heed the proper advice given here.
I'd like to say thanks to everyone who told me what to do.. i'd also like to apologise to everyone as I was stupid.. needed the bike up and running asap (it's my daily driver) and just fitted the damn reg rec thinking.. i'll get round to rewiring that later.
Here i am... just over 3 months later and the regrec went again. FEEL FREE TO MOCK ME AND SAY I TOLD YOU SO!
A new one is on order and i'll be wiring it up properly this time.
Someone mentioned checking the juice that comes out of the generator/alternator to confirm if that's iffy... how much should it read?
Of course I know I need to wire the alternator direct to the regrec, and not use the normal wiring loom.
Thanks guys

hi mate,
first off, were not like that (us mock people
)
probability is that the alternator is goosed,
if memory serves me right
it's around 14v dc at battery with engine running around 5k revs (and lights on if not re wired)
direct feed from alternator should be around 70v ac for each phase
if these are way out then i'm ssure someone will be along shortly to mock me instead

Re: 750 popup... Regrec
Time to get the multimeter out.
I usually get 14.5v or thereabouts across the battery.
So aiming for 70v for each phase... Is that between the phase wires? I.e. ab, bc and ca Or between each phase to neutral? I.e. An, bn, cn.
Cheers

output from each of the 3 phases on the alternator, AC volts

Re: 750 popup... Regrec
Under the tank are 3 yellow wires with black connectors that join the reg rec to loom. IGNORE THESE.just wire the alternator straight to the yellows of the reg rec.Take eath direct to battery.
join red of reg rec to the live feed as usual.
leave thew afore mentioned connectors redundant.
