Oil leak as well!!
Oil leak as well!!
Similar to the last post. My 1100 Kat is leaking at front of motor after a new rebuild. Head was skimmed, new gaskets all round, even retorqued the head, plus a bit. Is it possible for a exhaust stud to be over tighten and hit an oilway. Or possibly that m10 bolt at the front centre could be the culprit. Are they prone to weep. Thanks.

M10 bolt? I suppose you mean the M6 then with that 10mm spanner width? There's no leak to be seen there, normally. That's only the point where the oil is collecting and dripping off.
Also: overtightening the exhaust studs won't do any harm to the oil ways. Before that you will destroy the threads.
Same first measurement like in the other thread: O-rings of the stud nuts.

Re: Oil leak as well!!
Yeah. The oil runs forward along the second from bottom cooling fin. Then onto the cam chain centre little 6mm bolt making u think its the head gaskets leaking
Re: Oil leak as well!!
Thanks everyone for your help. As I reused the old ones that may well be the cause.

Sorry, don't want to sound thick but,if the o rings are leaking, where is the oil getting out from to the front of the motor if it is above the head gasket.Thanks.

Wind and vibrations will make it that way. No wonder.
But we are only suggesting where to look first (and easiest to fix) which is the culprit in most of the times. At the end of the day you might find that it's the head gasket...

This is a bit spooky exactly the same thing happened to me before my hols. I took the cam cover off my G*X750 to have look at the chain and tensioner. GPZ9 tensioner in no rattle great! Oil everywhere not great! Least I know where to look now thanks chaps
