Post by germankat » Sun Jan 29, 2012 5:30 pm

Anyone know a good tip for removing the engine cover decals? I have the correct ones to go back on and I want to polish some scratches out of the genny cover but I can't get the old decals off.

Cheers, Adam :?

sharp woodworking chisel and great care! its tricky but the only way. getting it hot will loosen the adhesive, but theyre stuck on well!

right, top tip for these things, leave to soak over night in sticky stuff remover, and it comes away no probs.

Off to the polishers then.

I've been doing polishing at home for years now, horrible job, got the quote back today for all 4 engine cases, £40................. why have I been bothering to do it at home? let you know how good the results and then maybe a recommendation of local services list?

Hi Katman, the place is called Suussex Polishers or polishing, they are in Lancing. Haven't had the bits back yet so I am still not sure of how good the work is yet,but will let you know.
