Back on thread ahem....

I replaced the CDI and hey presto all 4 cylinders firing away nicely, I made arrangements to meet a mate for a coffee and 4 hundred yards down the road cough, cough, splutter, splutter 2 cylinders said no. I managed to limp it home and found no spark on 2+3.
The CDI has been fried on that circuit so I started looking for a bad earth by stripping back the insulation tape and I have found more interference than Gary Glitter got away with before he went to Tailand...

The loom has serious problems and wonder if there are any out there? I will have to get a wanted advert on the go me thinks :(

I have stripped my original loom and found lots of little problems and most of them I have managed to solve however I have some that I require advice and help on.

The first is my reg/rec, this has been changed at some point and the wires coming from the unit are slightly different than usual. There are six wires not five and the colours are 3 yellow to the Generator one red, one black and one green. How do I/should I connect these colours or am I looking at a replacement reg/rec? NOW FIXED

My second is for those with access to their loom and the front headlight block connector, mine only has black/white(earth), Red/black(ignition), white(dimmer) and yellow(high beam signal).
I am missing red/yellow(from light switch) grey(for dash light) and yellow/black for high beam.
If anyone can shed light(no pun intended) on which wire goes where after this block, not only that but which wire goes to which terminal at the control box?

Thanks people for any help on this, my brain is fried......

Ok I seem to have found the info, I would like Fossie to confirm my findings if that's ok with him? I will pop up the details shortly.

seems like your loom is for the Canadian market , as the headlamp would go up automatically when ignition on so no need for yellow /black (flash ) or red /yellow( control seperate)
Does the headlamp work as it should.?

I have sent you a PM regarding wiring diagrams Fossie.

As for the light it only went up on selection of the light, the light stayed up if you turned the ignition off but left the lights in the on positions. So I should think it's a straight Jap model, unless I am wrong?
