Pete, also have a look on 4 small rubber caps (like small black condoms) covering holes for connecting balancing tools on your carbs. They may have small even invisible holes due to age for example and make the engine work not stable.

no pete the cdi ignition still has mechanical advance retard. you can see the bobweights through the backplate at the top. the rotor in the middle (behind the small bolt head and the big nut) should revolve slightly as the bobweights move out under centrifugal force. if it doesnt move then its seized.

Sergio mentioned the balance caps on the carbs , well on yours you have screws on the inlet rubbers , are they seated with a washer behind , if they draw air in there it will run lean and in balanced.

I think they are ok Fossie. I got them from Bobster as my original ones were poobar and they looked ok. Will have a look at them as well.

Thanks

John, checked the rotor, and its fine. springs back ok.

Fossie/ Sergio, had a look at the balancing pipe connectors and they looked ok as well.

Must be something else. maybe needs a balance.

Cheers

If a test ride brings you in the Welling direction, balancing can be achieved..... :D
