If it ain't f*cked don't fix it. Theres sod all wrong with the 400 (as long as it starts!!!!!)
I've dispatched mine for 15 years and only now and 110,000 are we having isssues.
Best get another that don't go and tinker with that oher wise you end up with another one in bits that did go.

In honesty the 400 is indicative of modern things bike wise short stroke rev happy , just like bigger GSXR say .
The 400 is happier over 5-6 grand but if you need torque not speed alter sprocket.

which brings us to harry hawkins again!!!

gixxer 1100 engine will fit in the 400 chassis with no frame mods, theres pictures of it on here or in the old forum somewhere!

Err WRONG! I was talking to Harry last week!

Harry had to cut his frame and jack it out and fit extra wide frame tubes to get the 1100 oil bolier motor to fit in the 400 frame!

So its not as easy as you may think!

Sounds pretty extreme to me Bobster.I was hopeing a 600 would just be a case of new engine brackets :?
The 600 looks alot smaller than the 1100,but still bigger than a 400 :(

No probs john
I just thought i'd get the facts straight before someone went and bought an 1100/1200 oil boiler motor thinking it is a straight swap.........and then finding out they have to get the grinder and welding set out !
