Exhausts
My very nice standard silencers have decided to return to nature and are rotting from inside out
However when I first joined the club a very nice man who lives a few miles from me donated a very sorry looking system to me for free. The collector box was rotten beyond redemption but the silencers and downpipes looked solid. I've now cut away all the rotten centre and cleaned up the Y piece on the silencers ready for my friendly professional welder to repair. I was going to have them ceramic coated but was quoted £360! So I've found some high gloss UHT black paint which I'm going to use. Pics as and when I get them back

Re: Exhausts
Yes, that ceramic coating is pricey. I briefly thought about it for the TS185 exhaust.

Re: Exhausts
I've had ceramic coating on my 250 kat for nearly four years and the pipes still look like new, would recommend it if you are thinking of keeping the bike for some time, got bored with rubbing down and spraying the downtubes with bbq paint every year, had the 4-1 done by a company called hi-spec coatings in West Sussex, they sprayed it with Ceracote, it cost £180, seems like a bargain now.

Re: Exhausts
I had the exhaust on my 250 done last year as well (though it hasn't made it's way onto the bike yet...) I used High Calibre Coatings in Suffolk (as about 25 miles from me) and the price was about £140. You won't get the shiney finish though, but I expect it will last (well it will if it stays in the roof of my garage )

Pookie, I am so jealous of your 250! One day mine will be like that. I am concentrating on getting the bugger to run properly first.

Re: Exhausts
What are they called John?
I just got a quote from Fastline Coatings in Preston for the calipers on Smallkat. £72 each for Ceracote. That's with me stripping them. I think they might just get a bit of UHT black satin paint.

Re: Exhausts
Smallkat, if you had seen my 250 Kat when I picked it up six years ago you wouldn't have recognised it! because I have a Kawasaki Kr-1 250 two stroke twin that i've owned from new (32 years!) and still looks like new, I've always wanted the 250 Kat, nearly part exchanged the Kr-1 for a brand new one in 1992 but I couldn't get insurance cover, companies were very fussy about insuring grey imports then because there was no internet or e-bay and parts took a month to arrive in the uk by boat! but over the six years i've owned the Kat (kitten?) its had a new paint job, ceramic exhaust, new tyres, brakes, shocks, chain and sprockets, its been like a mini project and it stopped me messing up my Kr-1, have you seen the price of 80's two strokes lately, i'm scared to ride it sometimes
