GSX250S Katana

Post by Uncle Bob » Wed Mar 13, 2019 10:05 am

First one of these in a while. I'll be watching and may place a bid as do fancy one of these, but not if the price goes the same way the 400 seem to have.

Looks like a lot of work to do there, typical Jap import from DK bikes, crazy paving paint will need sorting, and the choke cable hanging by the side of the bike is worrying, complete carb strip down and rebuild with viton o-ring kit needed there. will be interesting to see what it fetches as my now near showroom quality 250 Kat has its insurance renewal in May, at the moment it's valued at £2000!

Doesn't look so bad, someone has taken the time to fill in the indicator holes , the zorst is interesting, choke cable is just not connected after side panel was taken off,
In reality the carbs will be the expense sonic cleaning and news internals. However the brakes will need work with old crudded fluid etc,
So just time and paint if you really must... £1500 max :?

I'd like to think £1500 max as well, but after the last couple of 400's you never know now, do you?

I'm not a fan of the filled in indicator holes, I like my indicators in the proper place! Choke as you say is easy and parts the same as 1100. Not sure what is going on with the rear ones! I'm keeping an eye on it, you never know...

The rear ones are aftermarket clear lens awful jobbies which look unbolted for transit......they'd have to go anyway! :D
My 250 has the inductors holes still in place which I don't like and the rubber grommets are missing from around the hole that fill in the indicator stalk, but I have no appitite for searching for them. Should you feel you would respray this one should you win any bidding war......I would be happy to swap :( ;)

Fossie, you can buy the fairing indicator grommets brand new from Suzuki, they are about a fiver each, they are shared with the Rgv 250 along with the indicators themselves and several other parts like brake and clutch levers and other brake parts, just check the Suzuki vintage parts website, although the indicators are £41 each on there I got some Rgv replica Chinese ones for just £15 a pair on e-bad :)

Cheers pookie , but I will be fitting flusher mounted indicators , I can't be bothered with the fiddly 10mm bolt and brackets and saggy stems ......much easier to just unplug the wires to access removal of fairing.

Not a stickler for original all my Kats are so .......helps to squeeze 8 Kats in to an area!

Don't forget to add £225 to the purchase price of this eBay item...to get it registered .

So I have called DK to check they could deliver (£130), NOVA number given (confirm that as it does say in the listing) and it has keys for all locks etc and all seems good. So with no bids yet I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way (I'm a late bidder) and another Kat can join the ranks. They do have another 400 in by the sounds of it, so I guess that will be in soon.
