Katana 1100 gearing.

Post by tomtom » Fri Aug 23, 2013 4:01 am

Im running my katana with 17" Y#maha wheels (quiet at the back please) and wondering what sizes of sprockets front and back that people use. Its street use only but I would like to keep a nice usable power and decent fuel consumption too. Thanks in advance.

Hi Tom. If you are using a 530 set up 17 front and 43 rear will give you a nice compromise

Try http://www.gearingcommander.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A great site for comparing cogs, wheels and ratio's. he will add any bike to the database. Already has an 1100 on there with correct drive and gear ratios but you may have to play around with the wheel sizes and chain pitch to get the correct stock info. I did a road test against his info before doing my conversion making a mental note of speeds in different gears and different revs before buying the correct sprockets for my conversion. Much quicker than working it out on paper.
Allows you to see performance with different sized drive and rear sprockets, chain pitch plus wheel size combinations showing speed in all gears and any revs :D
