Hi, I'm Chris from Rotherham, South Yorks & I'm currently contemplating swapping my 1975 Suzuki GT550M for a 1984 GSX1100S Katana. Is there anything that I particularly need to look out for, bearing in mind the bike has supposedly had a full restoration a year or two back & has not run for a year or so. I know that it needs a few bit's & bobs doing to it but they are mostly cosmetic. Greatful for any help.

Always difficult to judge how the pre-owner understands a full restauration, I think. You might notice a clutch basket rattle on tickover, disappearing when you pull the clutch lever. Quite common noise with mileages from about 40.000 km onwards. Should not disturb you.
So is 5th gear whining noise.

Ah, and welcome here.

Hey up pal fellow South Yorkshire'n 'ere, though on'tuther side'o hills na..
Truth is owt that's been fully restored is a bit of gamble unless you know the chap who's done it and trust him ..That's not to say anything has not been done correctly , but it could end up missed matched model parts. That said in truth 40 years on it's very likely anyway .
If it's been stood for a long while the carbs may need cleaning if E10 was left in the tank and the carbs not drained ..Check the charging is 14.5 v with all lights on at 6000 rpm .. Many restorations have powder coated frames and old GS's need a very good earth points but people don't always clean these points off well enough .
You say 1984 so is it an import .?
