Hi guys, just wanted to say hello as I’ve just brought my first Katana (1987 1100 SAE model I think). Had too many bikes to mention but this has been on the list since I first saw one. Just preparing you all for a great deal of brainless questions from the new boy .

As a starting point I’d really like to get a parts list and workshop manual for the bike (pretty identical to the SZ I think), any ideas?

Looking forward to chatting and maybe meeting up with you guys!

I have the PDF Parts List and Workshop manuals but I need to convert them to PDF and they are all JPGs at the moment.
Was looking at putting them in a section on here for members at some point,

Thanks for the welcome guys. I brought the bike as a Japanese import but I was told it was an SZ. Obviously the engine mounts are different so I checked the frame number with some listed on the French Katana site and they said it was an SAE. I’ll need to get a correct dating certificate now as the one with the bike states 1980!! Is it best to get a certificate from the VJMC?

Bikes not in bad condition, though has been sitting for a few years and the brakes are seized, carbs gummed up etc.

I do need a replacement float bowl cover for one of the carbs if anybody has one, it’s the 34mm CV type.

Hi again , yes it'll be an SAE ., These issues arise because people assume that the Katana was a short lived model from 1981 to 1983 , ..but that was only here so the magazines of the time never carried on with further models. In fact the last model was in 2000.
You best option is the VJMC for a dating letter as they are the cheapest option,
If you have a problem with model designation etc ask them to contact myself and I will confirm model numbers etc.
If you have some paperwork stating 1980 Why not just register it as that, who'll know , DVLA won't they register some Katanas as 1979 ,,, 2 years before they were released , In fact we have a 1996 pop up katana ....10 years after it was made.

Other advantage with 1980 (if you can!) is that in 2 years you will be Tax and MOT free (so long as the new 40 year rule comes in)!

I have some carb parts from an SZ - dirty but with a clean you'll be OK. I can dig out a Bowl for you. I get a image and check it's what you want,
