I recently bought a basket case 1100 Katana from way up in Scotland and am just waiting for it to be delivered down to darkest North Lincolnshire. I had a Katana 15 years or so ago and loved the styling but at the time wasn't that keen on the ride - I also had a Triumph T595 and I think that put me off somewhat as they are very different.

Now a lot older and I'm into my classic bikes. I'm also restoring a Honda CX500 Turbo and have a Ducati 851 and 748 to keep it company. No room left in the garage so not sure where the Katana will live yet but my first job will be to strip it down completely and get the frame painted/powder coated (not made my mind up yet). The bike is however incomplete missing seat/tail unit/headlight/exhaust and probably many other small bits and pieces. But it was cheap I think. So over the next many months I will be searching for the parts to complete the bike and doing a restoration at the same time. I'm very impatient though so I hope I don't rush too much!

is this the one recently advertised as a project for the brave circa £1200 with possibly a 750 as well for £2k?

Yep, that's the one! It's probably not as good as I think or would like but it will keep me busy I'm sure.
