Hello there!

Hi, I plead guilty to an impulsive purchase of a 83 Katana 650 a few months ago, which has rekindled my biking bug and reduced the stress of parking (especially at work). As a reward for my foolishness a winter top end rebuild is on the cards, in no small way due to the 'Snake' smoking at start up and developing some unhealthy rattles plus an thirst for oil that has left me doing a good impression of a Cossack dancer (freeze framed squat - if you will) every time I parked up and squinted at the diminishing oil level.

The bike reg is UJM 366Y if per chance anyone has been acquainted!?

My hope in joining the club is to make use of the experience and tips to be found on here and maybe share the same! Although I suspect my place on the learning curve is far behind the majority on here! :o

Classic mistakes made so far; synthetic oil is not a good idea and neither is stripping the thread on the sump...

In a previous life (pre kids), one of the bike high points was the ownership of an 1100 Katana amongst various other rides.

cheers Andy

PS How do you pay subs via paypal?

I have a couple of 650 projects which I may be selling soon & am just down the road from you in Crawley
Despite the best intentions of the better half, I can foresee some hoarding on my part. As Busby said 'It's good to talk'...high on my wish list is a useable engine amongst various other items. Have you advertised or listed the project - I'm interested to know what may be on offer?

cheers

Andy
