what offset sprocket

I have
1982 750 katana
gsxr 5.5 rear wheel
I'll probably use the Katana sprocket carrier because its thinner (and I have 3already!), and 530 chain.
What size offset front sprocket do I need: 3/8, 5/8 or something else?
I know this has been done loads of times, but I've just spent an hour looking online and I can't find a definitive answer.
Thanks
Liam

What always did the trick for me:
make an offset sprocket by welding two sprockets (one new to the old) to each other. For exact settings make some measurements on the chain alignment and if needed play with the length of the bushing under the front sprocket.

Thanks, I did a search and these are easy to find and relatively cheap, but don't I need a 5/8 offset for a 180 tyre?

i made my own, but the kat 1100 output shafts splines are so long that you can probably get away with just spacing the sprocket out further from the cases. i ground the teeth off an old sprocket leaving me with a spacer with a splined centre hole, this i welded to a new 530 pitch sprocket, but when i fitted it, the splines still engaged with the sprocket anyway, all i had done was make a sprocket with a better contact area with the shaft. mine had a spacer between the sprocket and the nut, i just put this behind the sprocket to space it out.
