Hi,
In the past, I asked for advice regarding my GSX1000SZ with the problem of engaging gear without the bike stalling or dragging badly. Its come to the point where I have run out of ideas and must admit that I am unable to resolve this problem. Can any suggest a garage/mechanic that would be able to fix this problem?

I was wondering how you got on.
According to the parts list there is a variation in the clutches between the SZ and the SD.
The SZ has 9 drive and 9 driven plates.
The SD has 10 drive and 10 driven plates.
They also have different clutch outer baskets.
For engines up to engine number 158879 there is a spacer that is 28mm long and no shims.
For engines from engine number 158880 onwards there is a spacer that is 27mm long.
Then there are various shims from 1mm to 1.2mm in thickness in steps of 0.05mm.
These will move the relative position of the clutch centre.
If at sometime the clutch has been rebuilt with a mix’n’match of early and later bits it may well look right but not function correctly and drag or slip.
As Blix has said, Roger Upperton is highly regarded, or you could try Chris at Grumpy1260. Although he is a bit of a distance from you.
