Front Brake Master Cylinder

Hi folks, does anyone know where I can find a front brake master cylinder repair kit? Brakes are well soft on my GSX1100s so I changed the front hoses for goodrige ones but it hasn't made the brakes much better. The brake lever can be almost pulled to the bar and stopping power isn't great so I'm assuming the master cylinder is the cause. When I pull the lever back it does hold pressure but like I say it doesn't stop well.
Also, has anybody tried fitting a master cylinder from another bike? My GPz900 one looks like it'll slot on!
Cheers.

depends what bars you have. many sportsbike ones will work ok, but are angled cos of the low bars fitted to them. bandit ones are more flat topped so sit better on flatter bars. otherwise you can go the whole hog and fit something modern with a seperate reservoir and then it matters little about the angle of the bars.

I tried fitting a replacement clutch master cylinder kit to me Kat and it didnt work. I spent hours trying to bleed it with brand new internal parts to no avail.
In the end i decided to replace both master cylinders with modern Hayabusa items which also gave me a wide choice of after market levers as i really hated the standards.

have a look at your brake leaver somethimes the hole gets a bit oval it will give the same symptoms i had the same problem years ago and took ages to sort stock suzuki leavers ave a little bush in them to stop the wear most after maret ones dont. a half p piece was often used to take up the slack,a bodge i know but it works.

Cheers Dave. With the front wheel clear of the ground and rotated, it does take some lever movement before the brake bites. I pulled the lever off before posting and did toy with the idea of fitting a small washer on the end of the master cylinder piston. The only thing that stopped me was the thought of it jamming on!
