Need help with top yoke information please............

Hi...if anyone has information regarding this it would be much appreciated.

I want to create more ground clearance on my 1982 GSX 1000 SZ. Sometime ago I updated the running gear and amongst other stuff fitted Bandit 1200 wheels and GSXR 750 WN USD forks
To keep the geometry right I can sort out rear shocks but finding it difficult to find a way of dropping the forks in the yokes.
I have investigated screw in extenders at top of forks, but can't seem to find a supplier who can do this without charging a fortune.
I have recently been told that the CBR1000RR from around 2004 has a stepped down top yoke that would give me the required clearance. Also been told that this fits my existing yoke and forks from the GSXR.
Does anyone have knowledge of this or has an alternative way of keeping my current forks and creating more clearance
Cheers
Jerry

The CBR yokes are stepped, so will help to gain back some ground clearance. You can also make your own fork extensions. You can see an example somewhere on the last few pages of my "Everlasting race Kat project" in the project section. Not too difficult to fabricate if you know how to use a lathe.

Thanks Pedda...good detail. Are these diagrammes from a site or your own drawings. Not quite sure which refer to what bike...I guess the GS ones are GSXR's and the CB one is a Honda. Also guessing the 32 / 35 / 30 measurements are crucial as all other important dimensions would match. :?: ( or am I getting confused?)

Got these drawings from the net, can't tell where.
you are right, offset of the yokes is different, so you always have to use both, upper and lower.

I can't tell, how much a CBR yoke is stepped, but I think it won't give you back all the length you did lose on the fork length before. IIrc a stock Katana fork is about 32" lenght, a 7.5 Gixxer USD about 29".

In my old Kat I had a USD fork of a 1100 Gixxer which was a bit longer than the 7.5
I extended these with longer inner stanchions by 30 mm which helped a bit.

stepped yokes should give enough height with a 750 front end imo... OR.... simply add turbo so you can use just the dump pipe without anything under the motor ;)

what pipe are you running? micron 4 into 2 into 1 systems are handy for the way they dont stack all 4 pipes into the collector under the engine, instead they link the 2 from each side, then run the 2 links to behind the bottom of the engine before linking them into 1 pipe to the silencer. i made one from a gsxr1100 fit mine and it saved me 2 inches clearance below the motor, the bike had gsxr11m forks and wheels.

1100m forks are about 40mm longer iirc than 750m
