Has anybody got a spare lying around for a reasonable price?
I mentioned in a previous post about the beige coloured coils having changeable leads (and I got the answer, that no, they can't be changed). Ours has one later ND coil, that has changeable leads.....
However.....
Ours had a misfire on what I believed to be number 4 cylinder, and I suspected fuel system (pull no 4 lead off, spark but not firing).
Had the carbs apart, all good, still a problem.
Had dinner and a flash of inspiration, and went out to the shed and swapped the LT wires between the coils, and changed the plug leads over. The suspect coil/leads were originally on 1&4, now they are on 2&3.
Still running on 3 cylinders, but this time removing no 4 lead caused the engine to cut out. Removing number 2 caused no noticeable change in engine note, big spark, and massive case of "electricians elbow" as I got a belt off it! (note to self: Don't have one hand on the frame tube when pulling a suspect plug cap off!)
Am I thinking along the right lines here, that I have a knackered ignition lead?
Cheers,
J

Re: 650 Ignition Coil...
sometimes if you take off the ht caps and then cut a half inch off the lead before screwing the cap back on it can improve things.
