To day the Stafford 250 started and runs sweetly.
however it dosen't rev past 13.500 so the cdi is not 250.
i've forgotten the numbers on it but 46D00 is 400, which this isn't it's something 39E21. second part of top number
Cat or anyone could you check the 250 cdi you have and let n
me know the numbers.

cheers my dears , i don't feel that it is vital but whats the point of 17000 revs when you can only get 13.5? *burned cumberland sausages*.
So yes A 250 CDI would be good.
you were correct all them moths ago , the small bits of fairing bracket from Radiator to arms are missing and not same as 400 at all. I will make some in time if I can't find them.
I suspect the 250 cdi was that number you quoted 32900 means cdi 45D00 is the code for the 250 ssn , this means that this was the first machine this part was fitted to , all i need to do is find out what 39E21 was! and know that it fits the 400, also.
cheers katman.

Katman my bestest bestest buddy!!!!!!!!
If you are searching Japan site in the very near future see if you can source a set of 400 throttle cables and a set of 400 carbs , this may be easier than rebuilding mine , because waiting for the needles from Suzuki Japan could be a while .

I have a set of impulse cables but they are 2" too long. believe it or not impujse carbs are different jetting. Jimmy400 has now got impulse carbs and zorst on his 400 Kat and it is very smooth but a very different ride to the Kat, Not a worry but I have a Yoshi so I reckon the jetting will need altering , which we are trying to avoid.
best getting 400 kat ones if we can .

Bugger , bugger, bugger.
Cat could you bring up the old 400 cdi and maybe the 250 one that you have on your 250 please please please please please./ Just so I can check things
Took the 250 up the road yesterday , pretty gutless at first .
So came back and fitted 400 cdi from my bike, ( knowing the one on the 250 isn't Kat one , it could have been a timing issue ! and we know the 400 one works in a 250 up to 13.5 000.)
No the 250 wouldn't start with the 400 cdi on!!!!!!! Swap back to the errant cdi , starts straight away.
FFS so that is why the 400 wouldn't start after the carbs were rebuilt . The 'kin cdi had gone down between fitting the carbs the first time and taking them off to adjust air screw
