Oil down plug holes?

The pop engine has been stood for a while and I have heard people say that before firing her back up I should drop a teaspoon of oil down each pot n leave it to soak in for a day or so. is this true???? Will be looking at getting it going next few weeks

It can help if it's been standing for a long time, it won't do it any harm but will smoke a bit for a while. Turn it over by hand before starting it, take the r/h engine cover off and turn it clockwise with a socket a couple of times.
