Katana 1000 VM32SS carb float replacement

Post by katanatom » Thu Jul 25, 2013 6:30 am

I've just had my carbs ultrasonically cleaned, and it revealed that the floats are leaking.
Are there any floats from other mikuni carbs that fit?
The carbs look very similar to the 8v GS1000 carbs.

thanks for any advice

Look for some VM26 GS550 slide carbs or VM29 GS1000 carbs.

Can you repair the floats with a soldering iron? Pop them in some hot water to see where theyre leaking from! Then solder them until they dont leak!

They don't appear to be leaking from the seam. They look to be leaking through the metal, as if it's some kind of porous membrane. Very evident when they were in the ultrasonic tank.

I'll give Allens a call.

Thanks
