Pop up headlight problems

Post by Katfish » Sat Jun 15, 2013 10:52 am

Hi guys just took bike for mot and headlight decides to not work on me.... Bulb ok fuse ok, all other lights working apart from high & low beam and high beam idiot light. Can anyone tell me which wires should be live when switched on? Only lives seem to be red/ yellow & red/ black. However when I touch either green or yellow/black with tester headlight goes up and down in a frenzy lol. Previous to that light only popped up but wouldn't go down. Is it possibly a control unit problem ? None of the 3 wires that go to bulb are live at all. Bike failed by the way :(

The fact the high beam and low beam don't work would indicate power to control box from light switch.
The idiot light not working means the issue is before the bulb,as it would illuminate even if the high beam filament was knackered.

As for colours of wire I did put a wiring diagram on the old site which a chap and I drew
up because there isn't one from Suzuki as all components are separate and would be replaced as such.

Mentioned this before. But it works by power from light switch to motor when that is at the top ,the power then goes to bulb. When switched of power goes from bulb to motor until it is parked.
So you seem to have step one.
By touching all other wires and making the h/lamp pop up and down would indicate the link from control box to motor is not as it should be. The fact it didn't work before may be a wiring issue. Or control box all you can is try a new piece of short loom that we knows works. And a new control box.

I have a short loom you can borrow. We also have 1 cheaper home fabricated box. £30 incl post or we have 2 x brand new Suzuki control boxes £100 plus post to club members only.
