hi folk,
am fitting 400 impulse swinger to 1100 kat
question ??
needs "tophat" spacer for swing arm, is it ok to just make these as is, i.e. fill in gap on pivot length and fill bearing gap, or should i make them like bearing cups with o rings to stop ingress of water etc
opinions welcome
H

Hi H, If you make them with "o" rings then it'll restrict the free movement, the idea's good to keep dirt out but i wouldn't bother, make the spacers long enough to go right through the bearings and into the spacer tube to offer support and make sure the flange (ohh err !) doesn't rub the swingarm. It may pick up a bit of dirt over time but shouldn't take long to clean out once a year or so. don't put grease on the flange as it'll turn to grinding paste, just grease where they go through the bearing.
