question... took the top end off my motor last night. 2 of the studs came out as the nuts appear to have pretty much welded themselves on over time.

concerns are that the studs have stretched a little over time and that as they were likely at the "bottom" of their threaded hole already I won't be able to get the correct torque on them when i stick it back together. is it acceptable to shorten the thread a touch to ensure it doesn't bottom out in the hole or to add a second washer under the nut to again, esentially shorten it? these studs/nuts are soaking in vinegar at the moment but i really don't think they're likely to come off judging by what they look like... or do i buy a few more studs to replace em with?

What about putting two nuts on the stud to lock it. Then heat the stuck nut then undo it

you really need to see the nuts that are stuck... doesn't look as though any amount of brute force is likely to shif them. don't want to snap or twist them as robinsons don't have any replacements in stock either... they're cheap to replace, less than £6 but they need to order them etc.... adds days and i'm away at the weekend (fri-sun)

Which nuts are we talking about, the ones with the o-ring? I could send you some if you want to crack yours, I'm sure I also have some stock nuts of the normal shape.

it's the studs between cyl 3 and 4... both front and rear studs. funnily enough the ones between 1 and 2 were fine and nowhere near as bad as the other 2

reason for the rush pedda is that i need/would like to take my kat to bordeaux next week

ordered a pair from robinsons... arrive thursday. looks like a late night thursday cos i'm off to the bulldog early bells friday!....

oh... and plasticte bbq black... any good for exhausts? got some simoniz crap on my headers at the moment and it doesn't stick so well... have some bbq black in the garage so was thinking of giving em a once over... is says it's good for 425 degrees C

hi ive done my pipe in plasticote and it seems to be lasting well even done the kids quads with it

I have just sprayed my petrol cap on the 650 this evening with some Plasticote , satin matt BBQ paint and it has come out looking really good!

Dont know what it'd look like on a set of zorst...........but Its gotta be worth a try!

I have read a few times that its very good on zorsts.
