you go for a ride on the bike you're meant to be taking to france in a little over a weeks time and nothing in the world will stop oil pissing out of the base gasket acrosss the front of the motor... lol

so... hopefully the top end will come off without too much trouble (yeah right!) and i have enough time to sort it out. otherwise i'm taking my TDM. past feckin caring this afternoon tbh. thought i may as well replace the stem seals while i'm there. love to have more work done but time is the deciding factor here so likely a strip, replace, and ride.... fingers crossed eh. may get a bit taken off the head to up the compression a little but that depends on how quick yer man can sort it out.... not likely tbh but worth a shot.

plus it's the bulldog next weekend, well from friday morning, so it should be a fun week of evening bike work... 4 of them and that's it...

Sorry to here that mate. U sure it ain't cam chain tensioner. If it needs to be the REM then so be it. U being a part of it is the main thing bud don't forget to warm the motor and torque the head.

you sure its the base gasket and not the o rings on the cylinder head studs? if they go the oil runs sown the studs and looks like its the gasket.

I meant to say tdm. Oh and to remove the barrels its easier to take out the head studs

cam chain tensioner is dry.... leaking like a pig from the base at the front of the motor...and flows along the underside of the lower fins,,, then makes it's way round the alternator side of the motor. o-rings were changed before it went into the bike. as were all the other outer gaskets...

the irony is.... this motor is a replacement for a motor that was making all sorts of noises but never really leaked and always got me from a to b. i should have left the other in looking back.

Bugger. Swap it back all that work. It ain't a nice thought though ah

Love to swap it back... But it needs gaskets now as bits have been used on this other motor.... Lol

Question is... Genuine Suzuki head gasket or cometic? Base and camcover I know should be Suzuki, I was gonna get some more base o-rings too cos they're cheap as chips.... Then I though may as well get valve seals as the head is off. If I don't use them now something will need them in the future anyway... This ain't gonna happen in the time I have so....

I think Cometic are the choice in tuned or bored motors as they seem to hold together better but in standard then OE are unbeatable.

I've got some cheap pattern ones but not used them yet so can't comment on them.

Not their fault im sure but FFs how much does. Head gasket need to cost.... And don't get me started on the valve seals...

To fix an oil leak.... Albeit a rather decent one... £188... Lol
