Genrerator Covers

Post by Richiemouse » Thu Mar 01, 2012 4:10 pm

After my little mishap with the non fitting clutch cover can anyone tell me if the 1100 and 1000 engines have the same genny cover? The one I want to buy is alledgedly off an 1100 and is stamped "4920 A" but my 1000 one is stamped "4930 B", which makes me think there is a difference and it might not fit :?

Hi mate, it's a trickey bugger someone told me the 750 one fits the 1000. where the alternator fits and is mounted via three screws, that's the difference. the alternotor slides onto a tight fitting ring, measure yours, the 1100sz is 36mm I think, bloody hell I new it of the top of my head, any way cheeck that. also if you fit the wrong one a oil feed is blocked.

Thanks John, I had a feeling in the back of my mind that it was important to get the right one.

Hi keith, thanks. Where did you get that info? I know you can look on individual bikes fiches but is there a reverse look up facility anywhere? i.e. here is a part No., what bikes does it fit?

Hi

I have the parts lists for the 1000 and 1100 Kats.

If you type the Suzuki part number into Google, it will give a lot of american Suzuki parts dealers, who have online parts lists and diagrams.

There is also a piece of software somewhere that tells you what parts are interchangeable between bikes. Think Russ has it .

I know about them and they're OK for looking up parts for a specific bike or finding a part if you know it's full number but the 4903B that is stamped on the cover is only a bit of the number, it's full number is 11351-49300 the B doesn't even come into it although it must have some meaning.

b for black, same physical part as without the b, but the b means its painted so it matches the sd type black engine.

Strange, the one on my engine doesn't look like it was ever painted, it looks a mess right enough but an original mess.
