I hate coil spring compressors

Just spent ages refurbishing a set of Marzocchi stradas, but there's no way I can fit the springs (using those cheap sets that screw down from either side) without scratching everything.

There must be an easier way? What do the pros do?

I asked someone at a local garage and he usefully told me 'We just chuck 'em away mate and buy new ones'

I've seen a few DIY devices online that look good - Anyone got one that works they can lend me? I could pull my finger out and make one myself, but I don't intend to do this on a weekly basis.

Yours frustrated

Liam

can you use some heavy duty zip ties...........compreess sring in a vice........zip tie the spring in 3 or 4 places, rebuild shock, compress rebuilt shock in large vice, or sash clamp...........then carefully cut zip ties!

My vice, that I thought was huge, is just a little too narrow ... so I hate vices now too!

I'll take them to work tomorrow
