Ok I'm the new boy round here and you might of heard of this lot, but here goes.

Had my Kat frame chemically stripped of its hammerite, rust and rattle can paint job.
Got this lot to do it http://www.paint-strip.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; based in Preston. £35 all done.
For that sort of money, I wouldn't be bothered messing about with nitromorse.
Spot on job and friendly bunch of lads.

Be taking my tank up soon, same sort of price.

yep, use them often. they used to be called ribble technologies, by the railway line off aquaduct street.

Is that better than a sand/bead blast ?

I also Had my Kat frame dipped there...............shame I didnt actually look at it again before it went to the powder coaters .................or id have brazed up all the pitting first!

Very good company and also cheap............I think I had the frame, 2 wheels and and a few other bit dipped for £40, but that was 3 years ago!

been thinking of having a frame chemicaly dipped
but been warned not to as been told cannot remove all of chemicals
from inside the frame and starts to corrode from the inside
and weaking the frame

not true, all frames are rinsed and drained and rust treated. whenever i go there, its piled to the roof with classic car bits, bodywork, chassis and entire bodyshells, the classic car boys have been using this place for years with no bother at all.

I'm considering having my tank dipped. Its in good condition, but I think it must be worth getting it spotless before I go to the expense of having it painted. I seem to remember reading somewhere of a company who would chemically (zinc?) coat or line it after dipping it - am I mistaken? If not, anyone know who does it?


Sort of on the subject: I had my frame blasted, then powdercoated for only twice what you paid for dipping - the frame was in good nick though, so it didn't need anything more than paint and very minor surface rust removing.
Trestan finishers in Southampton did it and their work and service was really good.
They've just done my wheels too. Excellent job and great price again.

ive said this before and i'll say it again now. anyone who wants their stuff dipping by the firm in preston can contact me by pm and send their stuff to me, i will then take it down to them for you and get it dipped and then collect it afterwards make sure its ok, package and send it back to you. you pay for the dipping and the postage. i want nothing for doing it as im in preston virtually every day anyhow. i make this offer to members of this club, cos i know its a long way for someone not close to us, and if you are sending stuff all that way, its easier to have someone to check its ok before it goes back to you.
