If your going to do em yourself and you dont want to spend a huge amount, get one of these:

I have done a couple of bits and it comes up really well. You will never get it as good as a polishing shop, but still pretty good.
Some peeps lacquer after. I prefer not to as it does dull it down a bit and i luv polishing anyway

If you don't want to clearcoat it after polish, you can treat it with some auto wax after each cleaning/ polishing. That'll protect the surface from oxidation for a while.

Use the motor from an old washing machine, and not a drill for your mops. A drill will work but a washing machine motor has more torque and will not feel the load as much.
