Re: Gold powdercoat on pop up frame
Well that aint going to happen
Just got a call from a guy at the blasters and he said i was quoted wrong
He reckons £150 just to blast the stuff
Also the painter will paint it in 2 pack for......get this......£400
or
Powdercoat for £250
Bear in mind i need to get it blasted first - £150
Now if I remember right. My battleship grey 550 frame(plus bits) cost me about £150 - blast and powder. And my (cough) Impulse frame and bits was about the same blast and powder.
Am thinking triple S is the way to go here

Re: Gold powdercoat on pop up frame
Whats he using as blasting medium..........Gold dust?
My local blaster charges about £40 to blast a frame swinging arm and all tin ware.
If I were you ( thank God I aint
) Id find a different blaster!
or
Just get it blasted and powder coated battleship grey..........then paint it yourself with rattle cans or 2 pack with a compressor and spray gun, over the powder coat.
Do this after youve lightly roughed up the powder coat with scotch brite. Then laquer the gold with paint with petrol resistant laquer from halfrauds.
Think you need to shop around!
I think all you Southerners are Robbin Cnuts!

Wow
I think they're in dreamland or just don't want the job.
Just looked on the triple s website and have to admit the stuff looks really good, from some of the pictures of parts coated i reckon they could get a pretty close colour match, would imagine the cost of the frame is going to be £200 or maybe a little more if they don't have a close colour on the shelf, but this will also cover the postage. I'd say go for it, just make sure you degrease it all properly first.
