Suzuki GS 650 GZ Katana - Two oil drain plugs

Post by craik » Thu Mar 27, 2014 5:18 pm

My Katana GZ 650 has two oil drain plugs that need to be removed when changing the engine oil to let the oil drain out. Not sure if it's the same on the GX model.
One plug is located centrally more or less underneath the engine where you'd expect it, but the other is to the left and a bit higher up on the engine.
I need to replace the 2nd oil drain plug located to the left. On contacting Robinson's Foundery in Canterbury to order the part, they were unaware of the existence of 2nd drain plug, so I couldn't order it.
Does anyone know the part number, so I can quote it?
I tried looking on a photocopy of a parts microfiche I have, but couldn't find it.
Thanks in advance.

If you log on to http://www.cmsnl.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you can bring up the part fiches for most of the Suzuki range including the 650's. you should be able to find part no. on there or give crooks a ring.

ALL 650 's have 2 drain plugs...............................
the 2nd is for the gearbox/output shaft.

it is the same part number as the other one.

the oil for this artea is filled through the engine, it holds 1/2 litre so when you have filled the engine and started it , it will loose 1/2 litre after first start up.
if you don't drain that area you will containate the fresh oil.

can't see why Robinsons ouldn't locate it!
