what carbs??

Post by BigLT » Wed Jan 04, 2012 1:42 am

I've got a set of 38mm Mikunis (off an 89 750 slingshot)

After reading around, am I right in thinking these are too much for an 1100 aircooled engine?

If so, what should I go for?

Thanks

Liam

ps - I do have a set of 750 katana carbs, but I guess they not big enough??

If your engine is stock cc 36 mm carbs will do nicely. I used 36 carbs off several gixxer and Bandit models on aircooled engines. As far as I'm aware 34mm 7.5 Kat carbs are not that easy to adapt on the 1.1 lump, although they use 34mm carbs stockwise as well. Been told that it's not just a jets 'n' needle swap but there's other differences.

are they the flatslide cv carbs? theyre lurvely on a kat 11 motor, couple them with a 1/4 or 1/8th turn motocross throttle and theyre probably the best everyday carb you can fit. smoothbores and flatslides are great, but them gixxer f/s c/v carbs are just nice to use on the real world roads.

I run 38s on my Efe. No comments from me. Have to say 36s are better for everyday low down punch.

Thanks all. These are the carbs I've got. My carb recognition skills are non-existent...

Can't tell by the look of it, but have some very good general info on using gixxer carbs in a kat:

Sorry, still thinking about this. Do gsx1100f 34mm carbs bolt on a 750 or 1100? is it worthwhile?

Thanks

Can't see a reason why they shouldn't fit as they're just from another oilcooled gixxerish engine.
