Oil cooler lines on 1100

Post by tomtom » Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:43 pm

i have an 1100 Katana with an oil cooler fitted.Im not sure what its from as it was already on it.The existing oil lines go from the cooler to the front of the motor down by the oil filter.I like the look of the Wes Cooley style lines that go around the back of the motor but was wondering what you need to buy to fit this and costs/benefit involved. Also who is the cheapest in UK for braided oil lines .Thanks. :?:

Dont think you need the external oil lines as they were more for the GS1000 engine and had to be plumbed in from the oil pressure switch.

But im sure theres a way to retro fit these type of oil lines to your engine.............if thats the look youre after!
You'd probably need a billet oil take off manifold which bolts in place of your oil pressure switch.

The GSX1100 engine just needs a GSX1100 EFE oil filter cover and then the oil lines to the cooler.
Which you already have by the sounds of it!

There are adaptor kits available to have the oil lines like the Cooley bikes. Different prices, and you have to look carefully if they keep the oil pressure switch or just leave it.

Thanks guys,i was wondering why i had oil cooler points if they came as standard with no cooler. Its got a 1170 Wiseco kit but is only used on the road although i do like a good thrash, presumably cooling was never a great problem with them then (especially in Scotland).

and remember that suzuki built this engine for all the markets they sold it in, so some hot countries got coolers cos they needed em, and some didnt. saves redesigning and then recasting all your castings if the design dept decides that next years model will have a cooler.
