Hi all again, well as you are probably aware by now if you have been corresponding, the Kat is here. Very original and low mileage. Unfortunately the fairing was damaged quite badly around the RH front indicator mounting. My mate that brought it back was very apologetic and it was a genuine accident, however, it leaves me with a damaged fairing. Has anyone tried strengthening this area up with spreader plates successfully and, or repaired it? Iif so, any advice would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks, Adam

Re: main fairing damaged
Sadly that area is a known weak spot from new and loads of people will tell you of the indicator area cracking. The fact your bike fell against it or whatever only brought the inevitable forward.
This is why so many Kats have flush mount front indicators as it covers the damage while still looking ok.
Good old glass-fibre kit does a decent job,but of course matching the paint is the big problem.

Re: main fairing damaged
If your fairing is glass fibre, you can repair it easily. Early Kats had thermoplast fairings, which would need plastic welding for best results. You also can buy aftermarket fairings. Arouond 80 GBP for a thermoplast on here: http://lpmreplicaparts.com/suzuki/GSXKa ... iring.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or some guy on the Oldskoolsuzuki forum (user name on there is charlie2) who does them in glass fibre with closed winkkerz holes in good quality for about 50 GBP. (Both prices + shipping, obviously) In the past I bought one of each, I'd recon both as very good and worthwile, depends on whether you want winkers in the fairing or not.
If your Katana is painted 13L painting isn't an issue. There's a perfect matching paint from Standox available. I can dig out the colour code if you need.

Re: main fairing damaged
Thanks for the advice all, I have a spare replica fairing with the bike but I would like to retain the original fairing. I was intending to have all the bodywork resprayed anyway as it has deviated from original over the years. All silver with blue decals. The correct paint codes would be very handy, but first I need to get the fairing repaired, it is beyond my skills so I shall have to source it out.
