They are both interesting. Kar Lee used to do the modern version concepts of older bikes in CMM and I liked quite a lot of what he did. I thimnk this is just fanart though.
A smaller modern Katana would be good (I really don't need 147bhp!). I thought the SV650 was effectively killed off due to the engine and EURO compliance and the GSX-8S was the replacement, so again that is probably just fanart as Suzuki will probably not use the 650 V-Twin engine again.

Sorry, I'm a bit late to this but I didn't think I needed 147BHP until I rode my mate's ZZR1400. Okay, I may not need it, but I liked it! BTW, he did tell me afterwards that he put it into restricted power mode, so I would 'only' get 140 horses.

I think the parallel twin 800 engine has a V-twin crank spacing/firing order, so I agree that we will never see that sweet 650 engine again. I'd buy an early 'round' SV if I had the space!

In Cycle World magazine, Kevin Cameron (probably the greatest technical writer of our time) was explaining why twins are everywhere. Not to spoil things, but it's to do with ring length!
