Yep nuvva DVLA cock up ...
A bike I imported from Germany , I filed out the forms ...they issued an X reg so must have been 1982 ..BUT no some numpty entered 1992 on date fist reg on V5 ( even though it was issued a 1982 plate

) Date of first reg in UK 2017..
So no historic classification for another 10 years ..
No way of get to get DVLA to answer the questions of how to get it sorted because obviously it dosen't appear on their menu of options .
The fight has just begun ..

Some people in the VJMC have had some luck with writing to DVLA. Enclose a copy of your V5C explaining the error. *Perhaps*, it may be sorted relatively easily?

I had some success many years ago when my pop up frame number was wrong."really they did change it without too much hassle , I needed to get it inspected by a chap who had never seen one !

First shot to be fired ...photocopied the original warranty record dated Apr 82, the riders copy of the zulassung( logbook) with all keepers from 04/82. Which I kept for such an event or to provide a history .
Copy of the original their letter to me with notification of the reg number ending in X ( so must have been an 82. )
Copy of V5 to show the error

Update !
Return salvo!
Yesterday a new ( exactly the same ) V5 turned up , no letter no nuffin'
Today however a letter explaining the 40 year rule etc , however within its text it says from 5th April , it seems it's dependant on tax year ...so the bike must be 40 after Jan but can't reclassify until April.
It also says my bike MAY be eligible from Apr 2023 !
We'll see

Didn't mean to thank, more of a 'thumbs up', glad you got it sorted.
