So Monday just gone on the M56 my work bike ( 2019 vstrom 650 ) turned 100.000 miles ( in 3 years 5 months ) because I could I got the speedo to read 99 and at the moment of turning to 100.000 I sped up to 100 just because I could ...

Just in case those at the back are tutting ......I did switch the speedo settings to km/h , so I was actually doing the speed limit anyway
I now have a new bike ...a 72 plate vstrom , first service next Monday ...( a week)

This bike is now semi retired and moved to spare bike to be used when one of the others is in for service ....because it has developed a bit of play in the front sprocket output bearing....which is cost prohibitive to replace on a bike of this mileage using dealers ..

Last month one of our bikes was written off and the rider is off for about 8 months However if we can buy the salvage , maybe we can drop the engine in .

Shit. That looks really bad. At least it sounds like he will make a full recovery.

Recovery ..probably after a fashion ...he suffered. Broken ankle , heel,toes , Tib and fibulae , cracked knee on other leg , broken wrist , vascular damage , the bones should start to heel wi a few months , physio will be longer , .
Chances are it'll be at least 8 months and his missus won't let him return to bikes ....he'll be stuck in a van , so after a few months back he'll be really depressed ...
The car driver was arrested at the scene using his own dash cam footage ( dangerous driving ) .

Should have just shoved his head up thre exhaust and let it run...........

To be fair ....as soon as Tom and I the other riders on the circuit saw this aftermath , we immediately said the same thing , and told Alex when we went to visit him in hospital..
He was partly if not atleast 50% to blame as it was obvious he sped away from the lights across a wide junction where cars are likely to turn across ( as it did ) . But yes it could have been so much worse ....as neither vehicle braked both under acceleration , combined impact speed likely to be about 60-70 mph .
