Restoration??

So here's a conundrum...
I'm doing a bit (quite a bit!) of work to my old 1000, having to give the frame a coat of paint as it looked very brown, and generally clean and tidy the rest....so how far can I go without calling it restored?
Everything is coming off, being cleaned of its 15years worth of dust and crud, and being put back nice and shiny.
Any bits that are broken/worn out/generally buggered are being replaced, but these are only bits that would normally be replaced over time anyway, just not necessarily all in one go.
So when it's finally all back together...is it a restored bike, or just one that has been "properly" cleaned?

Are you going to ride it as a regular ride bike and intend on keeping it...yes then it's NOT restored ...restored means so much money spent it'll never turn a wheel again in anger !

Restoring and respecting are two completely different things. Lots of ‘restorations’ are hack jobs that don’t fit either criteria anyways..
For me, it’s the paint set that has to stay original to keep it unrestored. Frame is just the bones that keep all the shiny bits together

That the plan with mine to make it useable and smart without being concours.......
However that was 3-4years since and its sat with its carbs off looking sorry for itself as life / family have chucked a few spanners in the works albeit the 'plan' is to try and get sorted over this winter??
Who knows.....

All bikes/ cars (to much less extent) have soul...some malelevant , some not so!

Well, it will be kept and ridden, and the paint work is original apart from the new tank I put on it about 20 years ago, so I guess I'm ok to say it's not a resto, but I might call it triggers broom.
Might even get it out to a rally at some point...providing rain is not in the forecast of course!
