So went for first service today ..asked when the next is due......4000miles :o :o :    :o :o :o      . That's 4 weeks maximum...!!
Apparently the reason is service intervals used to be 8000 miles or 12 months , but no one ever brought bikes in at 12 months....so these bikes came in to the dealers at 8-9 miles and were dogs ...dangerous dogs  Used for a sunny day, jet washed , and left to rot...for years this was repeated . An example was a a Bandit with f****d wheel bearings that was really shiney and new looking ....but the owner said that when they phoned to give list of work required , that in the books the service just required oil, filter, brakes, so no need to change the fluids and bearings ....even after they told him it was a death trap and weren't happy to let it go out........apparently this is replicated every where and claims against parts is rising ESPIECALLY ABS which is affected badly with contaminated fluids ..

Anyway tomorrow is the ultimate test of this machine. ;)
Will the pie fit between cylinders , the frame rails seem to form an oven so here's hoping :D

I have to admit to liking the new VStrom 650. I have the 2004 model which is a bit ugly, but it is a nice long distance tourer and a great back road scratcher. When mine dies (if it dies!) I'd buy the new one. Mine's on 45k miles now, but i use it a lot less than I used to, as tend to use the Kats or TZR for pleasure riding now. Doing your own work on it (for those that have to ;-) ) is fairly easy as well.

I haven't tried the pie warming test!!! Let me know how it works :-)

Pie cooking time is about twice that of the Bandit/Katana although maybe a straight 100 mile would have brought it up to temp......the pie was just Luke warm after 125 stop start......whereas on the Bandit same journey ...spot on. So not a complete loss!

If I was in a position to buy a warm pastie .....then I wouldn't need to cook one!
The point is I don't know when or where dinner time is ...so having a fitted oven is the added extra that isn't in the catalogue . :P
